A retail firm deployed APG with EMC Smarts InCharge solution to help them manage their complex infrastructure as an integrated system rather than as sets of unrelated silos.
The primary concern of the enterprise was to deploy the solution across the 3,000 stores in a very short amount of time, and to get a solution that will adapt to network changes. Their network changed and evolved so quickly that the network teams could not stay abreast of the changes with the existing performance reporting tool.
By deploying an APG, the enterprise was able to solve its problem by automating the report creation. The following figure illustrates their OSS solution.

Figure 1: Enterprise Solution
By connecting APG with the InCharge domains, the overall solution resulted in an integrated end-to-end monitoring across faults and performance. The automatic synchronization between the two products allowed the operations staff to effectively prioritize their efforts on the network deployment and performance analysis, instead of having to configure and maintain the reports. At the same time, because APG eliminates the polling overhead, the network load on links and device?s CPU was reduced. The ability to access APG reports from the InCharge console provided NOC operator an intuitive and easy-to-use solution. Access-lists enabled the administrator to control which users can access which reports, depending on their profiles.
