APG centralizes the collection of data from multiple sources - event/fault management systems, network devices, and customer' databases .) using a variety of protocols:

  • gateway with EMC SMARTS
  • SNMP
  • Specific adapters (Cisco CallManager, Cisco Netflow, .)
  • Generic adapters (ASCII, XML, SQL)
  • Listening mode: APG listens on a specific socket for incoming data

APG collectors provide an easy-way to import external data into the APG system. Once imported, APG transforms the raw data and stores it into the database for reporting and analytics. Some collectors also provide custom, application-specific scripts used to massage data into a format compatible with APG.

In addition, APG lets you develop your own adapter to extend support for any new technology or vendor.
