Solution Overview
APG is a performance and service level management solution that allows effective management of the performance of the overall business. Adding APG to your existing EMC Ionix (formerly EMC SMARTS) installation will provide your organization with the immediate benefits of real-time, historical and projected visibility on your network and IT infrastructure. APG automatically retrieves performance data from your EMC Ionix applications and quickly delivers comprehensive performance reports. The combination of APG and EMC Ionix offers a versatile and fully integrated solution for fault management and performance reporting.
Multiple organizations have already benefited from the combination of APG and EMC Ionix. This combination grants end-to-end fault and performance monitoring, and reducing maintenance costs by automatically generating new reports as the network infrastructure changes. This automation allows operations' staff to efficiently prioritize their efforts on performance analysis and actual network deployment.
APG eliminates the need for double polling by using EMC Ionix applications instead of polling the network. Integration with the InCharge console provides NOC operators a user-friendly solution, allowing them to quickly troubleshoot network problems.
Key Features
Automatically import topology and performance data from EMC Ionix applications
Supported EMC Ionix applications includes: IP AM/PM (statistics on network devices and links); Server PM (statistics on Unix and Windows servers); ACM (statistics on the transactions response time and availability); Storage Insight Availability (statistics on the storage infrastructure like arrays, disks, luns and fabric switches); MPLS (statistics on MPLS devices, tunnels and VRF); and more.
Dynamic Module Support
Easily collect all the classes and attributes created with Dynamic Module
Historical View of EMC Ionix SAM notifications
APG subscribes to the SAM notifications to give a historical view of events. This is useful to identify chronic problems or search for a past event.

Synchronization of EMC Ionix Business Impact Manager (BIM)
APG imports all BIM objects and hierarchies to produce business-oriented reports and verify service level compliances.
Context-sensitive console integration
You can add an APG context-sensitive view within the EMC Ionix SAM Dashboard. It allows displaying the right performance report when users select an object from the SAM map or the notification list. In addition, a client tool is available for both the SAM Global Console and the Dashboard.
See live reports from the EMC Ionix SAM Console
From within a map or event view, the user can launch the APG Real-time Grapher, in context to the element or the alarm. It will provide a real-time, live view on the current device health. Allowing rapid diagnostic for Operation Staff, and see information such as system resources, traffic, and active running processes with their processor and memory usage.

Monitor your EMC Ionix infrastructure
The "ReportPack for EMC Ionix Health", monitors the health and activity of EMC Ionix applications including AM/PM and SAM. You will be able to track over time all the key indicators such as the polling efficiency, the memory used for each process, the licensing blocks used, and more.
Redirect performance alarms to EMC Ionix
APG analyses performance in real-time using thresholding and baselining algorithms. If an abnormal situation is detected, APG will send an alarm available in EMC Ionix SAM.
Benefits
Easy installation
Add value virtually out-of-the-box because it adapts automatically to the EMC Ionix infrastructure
Integrated view
for fault and performance (one console)
Rapid ROI
Install APG and get day-one reports on your infrastructure
No double-polling
APG polls EMC Ionix applications, not the network
Low maintenance
APG automatically adapts to network changes, because reports are updated as soon as EMC Ionix AM auto-discovers a new device or interface
Leverage EMC|Smarts discovery
APG reports on trunks and clusters instead of individual components. Peer system name is also indicated into reports.
"Designed for EMC" certification
Supports EMC Ionix versions 6.5.x, 7.x, and 8.x
