The APG Solution
Unified View
Multi-technology visibility
APG comes with hundreds of prepackaged, ready-to-use reports, called ReportPacks, each one dedicated to a specific vendor or technology domain. Reports are adapted to multiple audiences so that your whole organization can log in and have relevant reports for troubleshooting, forecasting, capacity planning and SLA.
Prepackaged technical reports & strategic dashboards
Preconfigured KPI with built-in analytics (best-practice thresholds)
Certified templates for major devices and technologies:
Network
Voice
Firewall/VPN
Wireless
Web Proxy & Wan Accelerators
Load Balancers
Servers & Applications
EMS/NMS
Storage
Transactions
Unified data collection
The APG server collects and centralizes data across multiple sources, from devices directly and from management applications. Once collected, data is normalized to ensure conciliation, aggregation and cross-domain performance analysis.
SNMP polling (v1, v2c, v3)
Flow Receiver: supporting Cisco Netflow, jFlow, cFlowd, sFlow, IPFIX
SSH/Telnet Collector
SQL Collector
XML/SOAP Collector
Listening Mode (socket)
Adapter with EMC Ionix
Adapter with Alcatel SAM 5620
Adapter with Microsoft SCOM
Real-time and Historical reporting
Users access reports using the web-based portal. All reports display the latest data (real-time) available, but can scroll in the past for historical analysis. A real-time grapher is available to see information in real-time.
Near real-time reports (polling every 5min, configurable)
Historical reports (configurable aggregate and retention periods)
Projected reports (capacity projections, assuming linear evolution)
Live reports (up to the second)
Capacity Planning and Forecasting
APG analyzes in real-time thousand of metrics to detect deviations compared to the normal behavior. Capacity planning reports help engineers to plan capital expenditures, and predictive alerts help operators to be proactive for potential performance problems.
Dynamic thresholds
Baseline Deviation Analysis
95th percentile reports
Trending reports, using polynomial algorithms
Response Time and Transaction Monitoring
With APG, organizations can set up scheduled synthetic transactions to regularly check the availability and response-time for a given IT service.
Cisco IP-SLA (supporting all probes), discovering already-created probes and option to create probes.
TCP-based application availability and response time (HTTP, DNS, DHCP, and more)
Cisco Class-Based QoS
Adapter with EMC Ionix Application Connectivity Monitor (ACM)
Customizable Reporting and Data Collection
APG includes all the necessary tools to customize reports or create new ones from the ground up
Dynamic Grouping of resources using filters
Intuitive Report Builder, supporting multiple graphs and table formats
Graphical Mib Loader/Browser, to poll any SNMP Mib variable
Data Enrichment to add properties to collected metrics
Maintenance Periods exclusion with synchronization from 3rd party sources
KPI Computation
APG calculates complex KPIs using mathematical expressions, called “formulas”. Numerous pre-configured formulas are provided for the most common situations that you will encounter.
Formula Editor to calculate combo metrics, using mathematical and Boolean operators
Library of predefined formulas (baseline, percentile, sla penalties, …)
Adaptive Alerting
Alerts can be set on a single resource, or applied to a group of resources. Settings like sustained thresholds and re-arms thresholds are supported.
SNMP Traps to fault management systems
Emails
Script Execution
MSN Messages
Intuitive Navigation
The secure Web Portal displays performance and SLA reports to operations, engineering and customers. Multiple tools are available to navigate between reports and print/export/analyze data.
100% web interface (no applets or JRE needed on workstations)
Top-Down representation, with drill-down facilities
Search Functionality
Email scheduled reports
Export (.pdf, .xls, .csv, .gif, .xml, .csv, …)
Multi-Tenancy Web Portal
APG is designed to support multi-departments, multi-customers environments. The data collection can be geographically distributed, databases can be segregated, and portal supports limited views per users or profiles
Role-based and User-based Access Control
Admin Delegation
LDAP authentication
Native integration with various EMS/NMS
APG mines topology, events and performance metrics from EMS/NMS to consolidate data while avoiding double-polling. Integration between consoles is also provided.
Alcatel SAM 5620
EMC Ionix
Huawei N2000/M2000
Microsoft SCOM
Easily export raw data and reports using XML/SOAP API for portal integration or CMDB integration.
IP Overlapping Support
Enables managed service providers to poll devices in a customer’s private IP address space while maintaining the APG software in their own network despite overlapping IP address space.
Multiple APG instances can be installed on the same OS
Each instance bind to a particular VIP
Use of internal tagging for distinction at the database and portal level
Scalable, Distributable Architecture
A single APG server can manage thousands of devices and process millions of indicators. You can also deploy several APG servers to support the growing load.
Distribute all layers (collectors, databases, portals)
Runs on Sun Solaris, IBM Aix, Linux, and Windows 2000/2003.
Runs on virtualized environments.
Store data in MySQL, Oracle or Microsoft SQL databases
