Key Features

Unified Platform for Performance Management

Multi-Technology Visibility

APG reports are adapted to multiple technologies and audiences so that everyone in your organization has relevant reports for troubleshooting, forecasting, capacity planning and SLA monitoring.

  • Prepackaged technical reports & strategic dashboards
  • Preconfigured KPI with built-in analytics (best practice thresholds)
  • Certified templates for major devices and technologies

Unified Data Collection

The APG server collects and centralizes data across multiple sources, direct from devices and management applications. Once collected, data is normalized to ensure conciliation, aggregation and cross-domain performance analysis.

  • Collectors for SNMP, Flow Receiver, SSH/Telnet, SQL, XML/SOAP
  • Listening Mode (socket)
  • Adapters for EMC Ionix/Smarts
  • Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM, Microsoft, SCOM and more

Real-time and Historical Reporting

Users access reports via a web-based portal. All reports display the latest data available. Users can scroll in the past for historical analysis. A real-time grapher is available to see information live.

  • Near real-time reports (configurable)
  • Historical reports (configurable)
  • Projected reports (capacity projections)
  • Live reports (up to the second)

Capacity Planning and Forecasting

APG performs real-time baseline analysis on thousands of metrics to detect deviations from normal behaviour. Capacity planning reports help engineers to plan capital expenditures, and predictive alerts help operators to be proactive for potentialperformance problems.

  • Dynamic thresholds
  • Baseline Deviation Analysis
  • 95th percentile reports
  • Trending reports, using polynomial algorithms

Response Time and Transaction Monitoring

With APG, organizations can set up scheduled synthetic transactions and regularly check the vailability and response-time for a given IT service.

  • Cisco IP-SLA, discovering probes and option to create ones
  • Juniper RPM, 3Com NQA
  • Application availability/response time
  • Cisco Class-Based QoS
  • Adapter for EMC Ionix (ACM)

Customizable Reporting and Data Collection

APG includes all the necessary tools to customize reports or create new ones from the ground up, including tables, graphs and geo maps.

  • Dynamic Grouping of resources
  • Intuitive Report Builder
  • Graphical MIB Loader/Browser
  • Data Enrichment to collected metrics
  • Maintenance Periods (outage)

KPI Computation

APG calculates complex KPIs using mathematical expressions, called “formulas”. Numerous preconfigured formulas are provided for most common situations.

  • Formula Editor calculates combo metrics, using mathematical and boolean operators
  • Library of predefined formulas (baseline, percentile, SLA penalties ...)

Adaptive Alerting

Alerting on current or predicted performance degradation is performed using almost any kind of alerting input. Alerting formulas can be modified or created to analyze system status.

  • SNMP Traps to fault management systems
  • Emails
  • Script Execution
  • Logs

Multi-Tenancy Web Portal

APG is designed to support multi-department and multi-customer environments. Data collection can be geographically distributed, databases can be segregated, and views from the portal can be limited by user or profile.

  • Role-based and User-based Access Control
  • Admin Delegation
  • LDAP authentication
  • IP Overlapping Support

Native integration with various EMS/NMS

APG mines topology, events and performance metrics from EMS/NMS to consolidate data while avoiding double-polling. Integration between consoles is also provided.

  • Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM
  • EMC Ionix
  • Huawei N2000/M2000
  • Microsoft SCOM
  • Raw data export and reports using XML/SOAP API

Scalable, Distributable Architecture

A single APG server can manage thousands of devices and process millions of indicators. Several APG servers can easily be deployed to support the growing load.

  • Distribute all layers (Collectors, databases, portals)
  • Runs on virtualized environments
