APG adds performance reporting & performance analysis to the EMC SMARTS suite
APG automatically connects and imports the data coming from all the InCharge Domains to provide real-time and historical reports. Here are the categories of reports you get day one in APG for each EMC SMARTS applications you can have:
- EMC SMARTS PM : APG will report on the network devices and links (ReportPack for Network) : trending, forecasting, baseline, exceptions, inventory.
- EMC SMARTS SPM: reports on the servers (windows, unix)
- EMC SMARTS ACM: reports on the TCP applications (transaction availability and response time)
- EMC SMARTS BIM: reports on the business services topology and availability
- Other domains (MPLS, VOIP, NPM, ...) : reports on the key performance and availability indicators managed by SMARTS
With the support of EMC Smarts Dynamic Module, you can extend the polling to other OIDs that are not polled by default. By this manner, there is no double-polling on the network. Data synchronization and consistency between systems are not an issue because APG adapts automatically to the infrastructure changes detected by EMC Smarts. A report is created as soon as a device or interface is discovered by EMC Smarts, and a variable is collected as soon as a new property in added with Dynamic Module.
Other points of integration exist between the two products:
- Dashboard Integration: users will be able to add an APG view in the EMC Smarts dashboard.
- Client Tool: a right-click from the EMC Smarts console will automatically display the right APG reports.
- APG automatically synchronizes objects and relationships from EMC SMARTS BIM to produce Service Levels reports from the business services defined into EMC SMARTS.
- Threshold Notification: violations detected by APG are sending to EMC Smarts.
- APG produces reports to monitor the activity of EMC SMARTS, such as number of snmp gets per second per domain, polling statistics, ...
- No overlap between the two products.
End-to-end visibility for fault and performance
APG can be added right-into the EMC SMARTS dashboard. The APG view is context-sensitive : if a user selects an object in the map, or a notification in the notification-list, the view will automatically displays the corresponding report.
Benefits:
- Integrated view (one console)
- Rapid ROI: install APG and get day-one reports on your infrastructure
- No double-polling (APG polls EMC SMARTS applications, not the network)
- Low maintenance (reports in APG are updated automatically after a SMARTS rediscovery)
- always up-to-date inventory for all your infrastructure (exportable in .xls, .txt, .pdf, ...)
- Scalable distributed architecture
